In 2005 maakt de Amerikaanse zanger Chris Brown zijn eerste single, Run It. Het nummer, dat hij samen met Juelz Santana opnam, werd direct een hit in ons land en bereikt de elfde plaats.
Ruim twee jaar later kwam er, met de Alarmschijf With You, een opvolger. Ook Forever, dat op zijn tweede album Exclusive stond, komt in de Top 40 terecht.
In 2008 scoort hij, samen met Jordin Sparks, zijn eerste top 10-hit met No Air. Begin 2009 raakt Brown in opspraak als hij zichzelf aangeeft bij de politie voor hetmishandelen van zijn toenmalige vriendin,Rihanna.
In 2011 maakt hij een succesvolle comeback als Yeah 3x, dan zijn vijfde hit in ons land, de top 10 bereikt. Daarna scoort Brown geregeld hits en in 2013 is Fine China zijn elfde hit. Na dik twee jaar is Fun zijn volgende succes in ons land. De track, die hij samen met Pitbull maakte, wordt in juni 2015 zijn zevende Alarmschijf.
In de zomer van 2017 gebruikt hij de nummer 1-hit van Kevin Lyttle, Tiurn Me On, als basis voor de single Questions. Die track verschijnt als voorloper van zijn zevende studioalbum Heartbreak On A Full Moon. In 2018 scoort Chris Brown in het Verenigd Koninkrijk zijn tweede nummer 1-hit via Freaky Friday, het nummer dat hij met de Amerikaanse rapper en komiek Lil Dicky opneemt. Begin 2019 gebruikt hij de nummer 1-hit van Shanice, I Love Your Smile (1991), als belangrijk bestanddeel voor zijn nieuwste single Undecided. Als voorloper van het album Indigo dropt Chris Brown in juni een samenwerking met Drake, No Guidance.
In 2020 maakt Chris Brown met Young Thug het album Slime & B. Van dat album groeit Go Crazy al snel uit tot een succes. Halverwege 2022 brengt hij het album Breezy uit. In de zomer van 2022 krijgt de single Under The Influence, dat afkomstig is van het album Indigo uit 2019, wereldwijd veel aandacht door TikTok.
