Craig David begint zijn muzikale loopbaan als hij meewerkt aan een single van Damage, waarna Artful Dodger hem vraagt om vocalen te leveren. Hoewel hij geen vermelding krijgt op Re-Rewind The Crowd Say Bo Selecta wordt het in 2000 wel een top 4-hit in ons land. Later dat jaar wordt Fill Me In zijn solo-debuut dat op nummer 5 weet te komen. Van zijn debuutalbum Born To Do It worden ook 7 Days en Walking Away top 10-hits.

In 2002 verschijnt zijn tweede album Slicker Than Your Average, waarvan de eerste twee singles What’s Your Flava? en Hidden Agenda minder succesvol worden. Ook Rise & Fall, een samenwerking met Sting, komt van dat album en groeit in ons land uit tot zijn grootste succes. Pas met zijn vierde album, Trust Me, scoort David in 2007 weer een Top 40-hit via Hot Stuff (Let’s Dance), hoewel dat nummer na twee weken weer verdwijnt uit de lijst.

In 2016 levert hij verschillende samenwerkingen af met Blonde, Katy B, Major Lazer en Big Narstie Ook werkt hij samen met Hardwell op de track No Holding Back, dat blijft steken in de Tipparade. Op 30 september verschijnt zijn zesde studioalbum Following My Intuition. Daarvan is Ain't Giving Up, zijn samenwerking met Sigala, de openingstrack.
