Op 9-jarige leeftijd leerde Lewis de gitaar te bespelen en nog geen drie jaar stond hij in Schotse pubs al zijn muziek te spelen voor publiek. Met de release van Bruise zette hij in het voorjaar een unicum neer op Spotify door als eerste artiest ooit meer dan 25 miljoen afspeelbeurten te realiseren voor een nog niet getekende artiest. Dat contract volgde later bij Vertigo. In het najaar van 2017 is Bloom zijn eerste ep. Ook vergezelde hij Rag’n’Bone Man tijdens diens Europese concerten terwijl hij met Milky Chance in de Verenigde Staten kon touren.

Met Grace weet hij in 2018 ook de nodige aandacht te krijgen in ons land. Eind november verschijnt zijn tweede ep, Breach, met daarop de track Someone You Loved. Dat wordt, na Happy (van Pharrell Williams), de langst genoteerde Top 40-hit ooit.

Van het album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent worden Before You Go en Hold Me While You Wait de volgende singles.
Na een stilte van drie jaar lanceert hij begin september 2022 de single Forget Me. Begin december komt hij met de opvolger Pointless. In april 2023 brengt hij de single Wish You The Best uit.
