Kate Bush valt eind jaren zeventig op met de experimentele muziek die ze maakt. Van haar eerste album, The Kick Inside, wordt Wuthering Heights meteen een top 4-hit. In 1985 volgt er met Running Up That Hill een tweede top 10-hit.

Kate Bush weet zich, als 19-jarige, direct in de schijnwerpers te werken. Ter gelegenheid van de opening van het Spookslot in de Efteling wordt er een special gemaakt met de Britse zangeres als optredend artiest. Ze krijgt er later zelfs een grafsteen ter nagedachtenis van haar optreden.

Bush heeft sinds 1980 geen tournee meer gedaan. Pas in 2014 staat ze weer op het podium als ze in Londen 22 concerten geeft. Alle shows zijn binnen een kwartier uitverkocht.

In 2011 is 50 Words For Snow het tiende en laatste studioalbum dat ze uitbrengt. In 2016 verschijnt het album Before The Dawn met opnames van haar eerdere concertreeks uit 2014. In 2022 keert Kate Bush terug in de hitlijsten als Running Up That Hill wordt gebruikt in het vierde seizoen van de Netflix-serie Stranger Things.
