De Zweedse zangeres van Marokkaans-Berberse afkomst werd in 2012 wereldbekend met de single Euphoria, waarmee ze dat jaar het Eurovisiesongfestival won.

Loreen deed in 2004 mee aan de Zweedse versie van Idols waar ze eindigde op de vierde plaats. In 2011 nam Loreen deel aan Melodifestivalen, de Zweedse preselectie voor het Eurovisiesongfestival met het nummer My Heart Is Refusing Me. Ze strandde echter in de tweedekansronde van de halve finale. In 2012 waagde ze opnieuw haar kans in Melodifestivalen, ditmaal met meer succes. Met het nummer Euphoria stootte ze door naar de finale en mocht ze Zweden vertegenwoordigen op het Eurovisiesongfestival 2012. Met 372 punten wist ze de vijfde Zweedse zege van het songfestival te pakken.

In de weken na het songfestival groeide Euphoria in veel Europese landen uit tot een grote hit. In 11 landen stond Loreen op nummer 1. In de Nederlandse Top 40 bleef het lied steken op de tweede plaats, maar stond het wel nog maandenlang in de top 10. In oktober van dat jaar verscheen haar debuutalbum Heal. De opvolger verscheen pas in 2017 genaamd Ride. Dit album was minder succesvol dat haar debuutalbum.
Ze nam aan het begin van 2023 voor de vierde keer deel aan de Melodifestivalen. Ditmaal met het nummer Tattoo. Ze wist op 11 maart de finale te winnen, waardoor ze de Zweedse inzending is voor het Eurovisiesongfestival 2023.
